“Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,” 2 Peter 1:2-3
What a week it’s been already—and it’s only Wednesday! I’m behind on…devotional writing, work, returning phone calls, taking care of my friends and family, finishing my tax return, finishing music, mailing that wedding gift…and the list is impossibly long. On the brink of bewilderment, it’s so easy to fall back into bad habits. My knee-jerk reaction is often self-talk like: “Kimberly, you’ve got this!” But this is the WRONG answer. My first reaction needs to be “Kimberly, GOD’s got this!” The struggle is to take my hands off my own life and keep it in God’s hands. God is better equipped than I am to handle my life.
When my life—that is, my time, resources, love, and all I have—100% belongs to God, so too, does my “to do” list.
In fact, when I allow God 100% control—He makes my “to do” list. When all I have and all I am—belong to Jesus—then HIS divine POWER is able to give me all I need to live the life He has given me. This is why the study on the attitudes of Christ is so rich! The foundation of all attitudes is total dependence on God. And the beautiful part is, when we habitually submit every physical struggle to Him, it’s also AMAZING training for SPIRITUAL warfare.
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” Ephesians 6:10-13
The spiritual battlefield presents us with the greatest opportunities to demonstrate the power of God in our life! A good friend, Kerry “Mitch” Mitchell, likes to say:
“For those who put their life in God’s hands, they will find God‘s hand in everything in their life.”
Every challenge is an opportunity for ME to SEE God’s hand at work in our life. And—even more than that—it was an opportunity for me to SHOW OTHERS His hand at work! The best testimonies of God’s work in our life are the rescue stories—right?
What better way to glorify God!
Take heart! No matter what you are struggling with right now—you can ALWAYS place your life in God’s hands. Surrender EVERYTHING—offenses, pride, independence from God, anxiety, etc., and—let God BE God in your life. He is really good at it. In His hands you will experience the most extraordinarily miraculous power known to man. God’s Divine power has “given to us ALL THINGS that pertain to life!”
