Are You Satisfied With Where You Are In Life?

When I was young, it seemed like I was always longing for something more than I had.  I’d tell myself I’d be happy if—I found Mr. Right, I got my degree, I had children, I made a lot of money, etc. I made these pursuits my focus. What about you? Would you say God’s purpose for your life is central in your mind as you do life? I’ll admit, for many years of my life, these pursuits were far more important than my pursuit of God’s purpose for my life. Now, many years later—after I’ve been married and divorced; had children, earned that law degree, run a successful law practice, and made and spent several million dollars—I’ve discovered the truth.

All the things and accomplishments I attained—without God at the center—were never enough.

When we’re young, our well-meaning friends, family, and teachers often tell us that success and happiness are found in the pursuits of education, strength, sports, beauty, money, possessions, love, friends and other temporal things. Then, when we obtain them, we find we can’t ever get enough!

My dear friend, there is absolutely nothing wrong with pursuing these things as long as God is at the very center of every pursuit!

Jesus said:

“I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?

Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew‬ ‭6:25-27, 31-33‬

GOD has a plan to satisfy your deepest desires.

How do we allow God to satisfy us? Well, remember that God is completely satisfied in Himself. We are created in His image and for His glory. When we know Him for who He is, we learn to respect Him enough to live in heart-obedience. For example, if Michael Jordan came to our home, we would honor, respect and listen to him because of who he is—right? Well, God is infinitely greater than Jordan. But consider—do you give Him the respect and honor He deserves? Is His Word our central guiding principle for life?

It’s only when we give God the central role in our life He deserves that we become immensely satisfied in life.

God gave us His Word and His presence to satisfy us. Jesus gave us the amazing BE-Attitudes to show us exactly how to draw close to Him. When we live in heart-obedience to Him, our heart is transformed. Our desires become like His. We discover the greatest lover of our soul. We become wiser than our own intelligence, stronger than our own strength, and more loving than our own heart.

God created both our desire and all the things we desire; In Him we find the fountain of all satisfaction!
