It’s so easy for us to become confident in our own wisdom and strength. But have you ever really considered how frail you are? For example, your mind depends heavily upon a very fragile organ—your brain. It is housed in the frail, thin, bony structure of your skull. You don’t have a spare. If your brain is not working—you might as well be dead. At any time, a physically traumatic event can bruise your brain and put you completely out of commission. Or, an emotionally or psychologically traumatic event can derail your mind and completely sideline you even when diagnostic testing says your brain is completely undamaged.
Life can be drastically altered in a moment and—then what???
Your life is completely on hold until (or, if) you heal. As our family walks through this deep valley, God is revealing more and more how much I need to depend upon Him—for everything. While I don’t like the uncertainty, I’m very grateful for this trial. I know God is preparing our family to be a very powerful force in the battle against evil. We are in the ring. We are sweating and fighting through each round. The bell rings. We rest for a few moments and—prepare for the next round. God is building muscle, stamina, and teaching us to fully engage all our training to claim victory over the enemy.
We KNOW now, more than ever…God is our strength and shield.
“The Lord is my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song I will praise Him.”
Psalms 28:7 https://bible.com/bible/114/psa.28.7.NKJV.
I’d rather walk through any situation WITH God than WITHOUT Him—wouldn’t you?
God’s wisdom, peace and power are irreplaceable. I don’t want to find myself like Eve back in the Garden of Eden, desiring to be independent from God. The serpent caused her to doubt the goodness of God. She believed God was holding out on her and she would be better off by being the lord of her own life. Satan said:
“You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
Genesis 3:4-5 https://bible.com/bible/114/gen.3.5.NKJV.
Her decision to doubt God’s wisdom and goodness plunged the human race into this current darkness. Every time we make a decision without God’s guidance, we are choosing the darkness of this truculent lie. But, through the gift of salvation, we have hope in Jesus who is the light of the world.
We are ALWAYS better off with God!
When we are born again, we are in the family of “one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.” Ephesians 4:6 https://bible.com/bible/114/eph.4.6.NKJV
We are always better off walking with God, who created everything, and will ALWAYS care for us!
“For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.”
Colossians 1:16-17 https://bible.com/bible/114/col.1.16-17.NKJV
