An Important Lesson From The ‘VID.

Man reading the bible depicts a healthy mind

For some reason I thought it was a good idea to schedule three contested trials and three uncontested hearings in four different counties—all in one week. On top of all my other responsibilities it proved to be too much for my mind. By Thursday, the stress was taking a serious toll on me. But by Friday night—my mind was so taxed I was barely able to put a sentence together while hosting a small party. Pre-COVID I probably could have handled all this with no problem—but after having COVID at least twice now—my residual brain-fog brain has been a frustrating challenge.

But—it’s very interesting how God is using my brain-fog to retrain my soul!

God is teaching me to step away from self-reliance and develop more dependence upon Him. He is teaching me to re-train my mind. A mind fed by the Holy Spirit is a healthy mind. God has been using the debilitating side effects from my bout with COVID to get me to get off my frantically paced life so I can retrain my mind to live in His wisdom and “peace that passes understanding.” The body breaking under stress is one thing—but a broken mind is a completely different bailiwick. I can’t do anything without my mind and by itself, it is proving to be very fragile. But…

Renewing my mind in Christ is the key to take me beyond what I am capable of doing on my own.

Renewing my mind in Christ involves surrendering to Him instead of my flesh. It’s a battle for sure! But this surrender allows me to have my mind tap into the supernatural mind of God.

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:1-2‬

We are commanded to be transformed by the renewing of our mind. We were created with a body, soul and spirit. (human design) The physical brain is not our mind; rather, it’s an organ. The “mind” is our “soul;” that is, the part of us that makes us self-aware. It is the real you. Without our soul, our body will die.

Our soul/mind should act intentionally to develop our brain.

WHAT and HOW we feed our soul is even more important than what or how we feed our body! If I don’t want to live anxious, brain-fogged, unfocused, and have a generally unhealthy mind, I must be intentional about how I feed my soul. We become what we think. (Proverbs 23:7) What we think about most grows. If we focus on toxic thoughts we become toxic. Conversely, if we think about what is true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous, and praiseworthy—it will transform who we are. (‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:8‬)

All the secrets to a healthy mind are contained within the great mind of God.
