Does Everyone Know About God?

Share

Questioning

One of the great questions I get from students when teaching the Bible Concept Study, is “Does everyone know about the existence of God?” The answer is unequivocally “YES.”

According to the Bible, Creation declares the existence and glory of God:

“The heavens declare the GLORY of GOD; and the firmament shows HIS handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night reveals KNOWLEDGE. There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard. Their line has gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world…”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭19‬:‭1‬-‭4

The knowledge of the glory of God is communicated through the sky to all of humanity. The sky does not have a language barrier. The message covers the entire earth. Even the greatest minds in science, who perhaps can explain the elements of a beautiful sunset and the force behind a hurricane, cannot satisfactorily, or with any reasonable degree of certainty, explain where it all came from and how it is sustained.

Faith in science without an acknowledgment of the existence of God—is a profound exercise of faith. Think about it—how much faith does it take to believe that everything came from nothing. This phenomenon is not observed anywhere in the universe and thus, requires great faith. Mankind is incapable of engineering even one living cell. My friend, it takes much less faith to believe a masterful Creator designed, engineered and sustains something so gloriously complex as this world, teeming with billions of living creatures.

But according to God’s Word it’s not just Creation which imparts the knowledge of Himself to every human.

The Apostle Paul confirms that while our knowledge of God is revealed through creation, it is ALSO—innate within each human because God placed it inside us. In Romans Chapter 1, he writes:

“…what may be KNOWN of GOD is manifest in THEM, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭1‬:‭19‬-‭21‬

The testimony of God’s existence is proclaimed throughout all of creation AND is planted within us; thus, it follows, all of humanity are without excuse for rejecting Him. In fact, the Bible makes clear the foolishness of rejecting such an obvious fact:

“The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭14‬:‭1‬

God has given us evidence of Himself. Even our naturally arising anxiety reveals our soul’s desperate need for a relationship with Him. Jesus died and was resurrected to reconcile all of humanity to Himself through the gift of salvation.

God does not hide the ball about who He is!

We see God’s majesty in the sky, in the glory of the sun, and in the creative kaleidoscope of clouds in sunrises and sunsets. We see Him in the darkness of a night sky in the Colorado mountains where the brightness of the moon, the starry sky, Milky Way, and other distant galaxies are brightly illuminated.

God’s glory is demonstrated in having made something so vast. His glory is in engineering each element of creation working with amazing micro precision. His creative artistry is demonstrated in the unreplicatable beauty all around us. He is glorious in love for having created such beauty for humanity to enjoy.

The majesty of Creation shouts for all who are watching, “We are the creation of God, Who is far more glorious! Worship Him and adore Him, for He is worthy!” Truly, we are without excuse and complete fools to reject the gift of knowing Him and living in His presence. Even we, who are born again, often live our life our own way—as if He does not exist. Ah, God has so much more for His children!!!

The most brilliant act of humanity is being reconciled to God through the gift of salvation and then to join in all of Creation in living our great purpose of bringing Him glory!

“Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”

‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭10‬:‭31‬

Basic Bible Concepts: Part 9 Spiritual Growth

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you, when they revile and persecute you and say, all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake, rejoice and be exceeding. Glad for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” ~Matthew 5:10-12
