How To Watch God Take The Storm

When ALL we HAVE belongs to God, then every OBSTACLE belongs to Him, too.

Over the past 8 months of training an entirely new law firm team, there have been obstacles and challenges greater than I could have ever imagined. But, at the beginning of the journey—when I was at the very bottom of the barrel—I asked God if it was His will that I continue to practice law. I truly was ready to give it up if that was the reason I was where I was. But I didn’t have the peace to quit so—I gave my law practice to Him. This included giving Him the seemingly insurmountable problems of rebuilding. My prayer and New Years Resolution was:

I’m giving my problems to You, Lord;

I will not take them back; and

I’m going to get out of the way.

So along those lines, each day I tried to remember to pray:

“Lord this law practice belongs to You; all that I possess belongs to You; all my time is Yours, I give you my greatest love; and—all my problems belong to You.”

So now when difficult circumstances arise, I have the peace of knowing that I’m not tasked with finding every solution. Building a fully trained team is ongoing. While it’s been difficult to learn all the administrative and operational functions while keeping up with ministry and practicing law; believe it or not—the most difficult part of this journey was—giving God the burden. Oh—and not taking it back is hard, too! 🫣

Now, nine months later, God has built a radically different organization than I ever imagined our law practice could become. It’s a place of peace, top notch organization, love, hard work, and amazing camaraderie. We are more efficient, productive, and effective than ever. Even though I am intimately familiar with every aspect of the practice—God has given me even MORE freedom to work in ministry. Matter of fact—we have launched our podcast—”Truth In Love!!!”

Life today is full of miracles because God is taking my storm!

My friend, I lean into Psalm 107 when I need to remember how God takes my storm!!! If you, too, are struggling in a storm, read and meditate on the mighty power of God:

“Those who sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, bound in affliction and irons—because they rebelled against the words of God, and despised the counsel of the Most High, therefore He brought down their heart with labor; they fell down, and there was none to help.

THEN they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, And He saved them out of their distresses. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their chains in pieces.

Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He has broken the gates of bronze, and cut the bars of iron in two.

Fools, because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, were afflicted. Their soul abhorred all manner of food, and they drew near to the gates of death.

THEN they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distresses. He sent His word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.

Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! Let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare His works with rejoicing.

Those who go down to the sea in ships, who do business on great waters, they see the works of the Lord, and His wonders in the deep. For He commands and raises the stormy wind, which lifts up the waves of the sea. They mount up to the heavens, they go down again to the depths; their soul melts because of trouble. They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits’ end.

THEN they cry out to the Lord in their trouble, and He brings them out of their distresses. He calms the storm, so that its waves are still. Then they are glad because they are quiet; so He guides them to their desired haven.

Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!”

Psalms 107:10-31

‭‭Whether you’re in a storm because of circumstances that are out of your control—or whether you have fallen into the pits of despair because of your own poor choices—God is faithful and loves you more than you love yourself. He died so you could live a life that is far beyond what you could ever ask for or imagine! If you are not born again, give your life to Him for salvation. If you are already saved, then give all you are and all you have to Him every day!

When God takes your storm, you have the opportunity to live in miracles beyond what you can imagine!
