We often begin our day with OUR plans at the forefront of our mind. But it doesn’t matter whether we’re a minister, a lawyer, or a parent—God’s plan is always better than ours. Do we begin our day asking HIM about HIS plan for the day? We know from reading His Word, that He has a marvelous plan for our life, but we must tune into Him. If we’re not careful, we’ll live our entire life without capturing the best blessings of God. But when we believe His way is best, we start with His plan first thing in the morning and we finish with it every evening. We don’t dare vary from it because in our EXPERIENCE—HIS plan is always better!
Has your life been full of experiences you can share where God’s plan was better than yours???
It took me so many wasted years to figure out that it was in my own best interest to make God’s plan my plan. Why did it take so long? Well, I had never experienced the joy and satisfaction of God’s plan. I’d always done what I thought was best—without much thought to God’s purpose for my life; and thus, desiring His guidance! But when I discovered that there is no more glorious life than one spent glorifying God, it made sense to yield to His plan each day. What a great ride it is to experience life God’s way. And what a crazy compromise to live in my own way!
Why do I insanely choose my own way?
Well, I can identify a number of foolish reasons:
- Force of habit;
- Forgetting how wise, powerful, and loving God is;
- The belief that I know everything; or
- The belief that my ideas are more exciting and satisfying than God’s.
However, it is in the experience of living in God’s will that I have become enlightened to HIS truth and HE has worked a transformational change. When I seek God’s guidance throughout the entire day, then even the toughest days are satisfying and full of miracles. God has wonderful plans for each of His children! When we passionately seek to make God the Lord of our life—the center of all we do—we discover plans that are greater than even our greatest imagination! That’s because God is greater than our imagination and His love is beyond our comprehension, and so experiencing His presence produces our greatest delight.
God’s Word is bursting with the promises He offers when we follow Him:
“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
Matthew 6:31-33
“But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you.”
Isaiah 43:1-2
“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:19
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lord.”
Jeremiah 29:11-14a
My friend, God isn’t hiding His presence from you and He’s not hiding His goodness from you either!
God doesn’t play games with our life and neither should we. When we live as close to Him as we can, He reveals HIS hour-by-hour plan for our day. God’s plan is never boring. It’s always satisfying. It’s an adventure. He places us in His stream of eternal blessings. We do not need to worry about today or about tomorrow—because God is already there.
When we seek God first, He hears us before we utter a word and—He embraces us with His response.
Don’t wait for your own plans to fall apart before making God your navigator! He is better at your life than you are.
There is no better plan you can imagine for yourself today—than God’s plan.
