God has often grown my faith in Him MOST, when I’ve had LESS; that is, fewer physical resources. Why? Because possessing an abundance of physical resources often works as a trap for me—shifting my faith FROM God—TO my possessions or position. I never thought I would be thankful for having less, but now I see how it has kept my faith in God on point and—I don’t ever want to go back.
I don’t ever want the resources God gives me to be more important than Him.
The backstory about my experience is a powerful testimony. At the lowest point in my entire life when I was going through my divorce and before I had developed a strong sense of God’s presence—God knew that for me to SEE the evidence of His presence—He would need to bless me financially and materially. That’s what I understood to be His “goodness.” He knew I had not learned to trust Him and so, like a small child who does not understand the deep love of a parent, He blessed me with the shiny things of life to show me that He was real. He needed to spoon feed me in order to give me time to develop an understanding of His presence.
In fact, at that time, God blessed me financially beyond what I could have ever imagined possible.
The material blessings God gave me were so obviously from Him that it inspired me to desire to know Him more. In other words, His goodness drew me in! I had been born again many years before and I knew enough about His Word to know that all good things come from Him. His goodness led me to turn to Him and turn away from my sinful ways. (Romans 2:4)
The manifestation of God’s obvious goodness to me made me curious about Him. Thus, I began to passionately seek Him. As I did, I was astonished to discover who He is! Slowly but surely HE became my greatest desire. HE became the one thing I could not live without. The more I knew Him, the more I wanted to know. As I grew, He began to open my eyes to see life from an eternal perspective. It has been the most remarkable journey!
This experience has transformed my life and allowed me to experience supernatural faith!
When God knew I was ready to begin to test the limits of my faith in Him, He took my law practice on a complete U-Turn from a money-making machine to—a mission field. Wow! What an experience it has been. There are some weeks when EVERY DAY God sends someone who is ready to hear about Jesus into my office! Although sometimes money is tight—I’m rarely afraid. We are doing eternal things. God is faithful to take care of the physical needs of my staff and myself. Truly, we are living out this amazing promise of Jesus who said:
Do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
Therefore do not worry, saying, “What shall we eat?” or “What shall we drink?” or “What shall we wear?” For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father KNOWS that you need ALL these things.
But seek FIRST the KINGDOM of GOD and HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS, and ALL these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Matthew 6:25-34 NKJV
The faith that God is growing in our law firm team has allowed us to be MORE generous—with LESS! We have shifted our focus to what really matters—bringing people into God’s kingdom (the Great Commission) and caring for people. We’re growing up. We’re learning to understand what love means. Like children becoming adults, we don’t desire more of the cheap, shiny toys; rather, we desire above all—the strong presence and deep peace and love of our Heavenly Father.
Sometimes, giving us LESS of what matters least is God’s way of revealing whether He may entrust us with an ABUNDANCE of what matters—MOST. (Matthew 6:25-34)

Beautiful. I’m trying to trust God. I have a permanent injury. I just want to be healed. I have asked and tried for a long time. My body just literally goes down. Then bounces back up. Yes I’m on medication. I just want to be set free. Thank you for your devotions.
Prayers for God to use your time of sickness to show His strength for HIS glory!
