We Are Redeemed For So Much More

Share

path in the woods

Christ did not redeem our soul from eternal death so we would live our physical life as if we are chained, crippled, maimed, or wounded. So why would we live this way? Ah, my friend, after our soul is born again, we must GROW and allow Him—to HEAL the rest of us.

The destiny GOD has planned for His children is FAR too important to not go at it with everything we’ve got.

Thus, we must allow Jesus, our Great Physician, to heal us so we can do this life full-throttle for HIS glory!

When Christ began His ministry, He read from Isaiah Chapter 61:

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives.”

(Isaiah‬ 61:1‬)

After Jesus read this passage, He said,

“Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”

(Luke‬ 4:21‬)

Jesus didn’t save our soul to have us live out the remainder of our life wounded by the scars of our sinful past!

Our three enemies have damaged and enslaved us. But when we are born again,  we are set FREE. The scars of the past are REAL. A big part of our growth is to heal. We must bring our wounds to Christ and surrender to His healing. We must lay our heart into the hands of the Great Physician. C.S. Lewis wrote,

“Until you have given up yourself to Him, you will not have a real self…give up yourself to Him and you will find your real self.”

(Mere Christianity)

The “real self” is our soul—the redeemed part of us. Before we accepted Christ, our soul was full of anxiety because of our desperate need for God! If you feel riddled with anger, depression, fear and anxiety–know this–God wants to heal you. We were created in God’s image and—He is none of these things. But we must be willing to daily discipline ourselves to transform our mind to be like the mind of Christ.

As we surrender every part of our life to God, we entrust ourselves into His loving care. He cares for us better than we care for ourselves. As we take our deepest wounds of fear and insecurity to Him for healing, the person He created emerges—one who is strong, beautiful, compassionate, loving, and wise. Then, with the Psalmist we praise God:

“I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.”

(Psalms‬ ‭139:14‬)
