God’s peace, the kind that prevails even in the greatest storms—is HIS for the giving. When we don’t have it. There is a reason. When a family does not have it. There is a reason. When a nation does not have it. There is a reason. Peace can’t be bought. It can’t be manufactured. God’s peace is not for sale. It’s not won in wars. God’s peace is only found in one place.
God’s peace is in God’s presence.
God told Jeremiah: “[I have] taken away My peace from this people.” (Jeremiah 16:5) What was God’s reason for taking away HIS peace from Israel?
“Because your fathers have forsaken Me…they have walked after other gods and have served them and worshiped them, and have forsaken Me and not kept My law. And you have done worse than your fathers, for behold, each one follows the dictates of his own evil heart, so that no one listens to Me.”
Jeremiah 16:11-12
Ah, my dear friends, as long as we live in opposition to God’s Word—we will NOT have HIS peace. I know this to be true from personal experience. When I justify my own way instead of God’s way—I feel the peace of God leave me. When I go about my life as if He is not the LORD of my life; but rather, my schedule is my lord, or my desire is my master—well then, I must find peace in the hands of those “gods.”
I’ve never found another “god” who can give me peace like Jehovah.
God’s Word is His plan for our life. It gives us a place of safety. When we know God (through accepting the gift of salvation) we are enabled to communicate with Him. We have the “mind of Christ” and can understand the things of God. Our soul desires to obey God, and our desires conform to His Word. This is a great gift. Do you want perfect peace? The Bible has a perfect recipe:
“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.”
Isaiah 26:3
When our mind is constantly being renewed by God’s Word, we want Him to be the center of our life. When God is the center of our life, we have perfect peace.
