Our Greatest Accomplishments

Share

Military-Cadets proud of greatest accomplishment

After a very engaging day celebrating my son, Jon and his girlfriend Autumn’s graduation from the AH-64 Apache course, I was laying in bed thanking God for all the blessings in my life. Both families gathered at Ft. Rucker to mark this momentous milestone. I wanted to prolong and savor the celebration to squeeze every bit of joy out of it. I thought about all of Jon and Autumn’s hard work and dedication as well as the myriad of family, friends, teachers, and community members who had poured love and time into their lives to make them who they are today.

There is no doubt—their accomplishments—are a shared blessing!

I went to sleep with a big silly grin on my face which I’m sure reached all the way to Heaven!

I’m so grateful for these glimpses of great joy God allows us to experience while we’re still on earth. It’s definitely a foretaste of what we will experience in the New Heaven and New earth when God recreates what we have all collectively destroyed through our sin. Each of us (ALL according to Romans 3:23) are complicit in causing the current wreckage. But, here and now, amidst our enemies (the flesh, the devil and the broken world system) WE have the power to overcome the struggle and achieve great things!

Because Jesus conquered our greatest enemy—eternal death—we have nothing to fear.

Our victory is secure!

Eternal death was shattered on the cross and eternal life is ours for the asking.

The struggle is soooo worth it! Just as Jon and Autumn overcame many obstacles to earn the wings on their uniforms—from SERE (Survival Evasion Resistance Escape training) to training in a highly complex attack aircraft and would tell you it was worth the effort—so God has great plans for your great life and—the struggle is worth the effort!!!

“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭2:9‬

God set great and eternal goals for each of us—and through the resurrection of His Son—He equipped us to accomplish them.

What are these unimaginable things God has planned for us? Well, since He is God and He only gives the best, His gifts are the ones we’ll enjoy long after this temporal body hits the grave. Remember, the only thing on this earth that will outlast the earth are—the souls of mankind.

Physical death is not the end—the soul of man lasts forever. (Matthew 25:46)

“For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?”

Mark‬ ‭8:36-37

When we accept Jesus as our LORD and Savior, we receive the gift of eternal LIFE. Our soul is saved from eternal DEATH. Then, we are equipped to accomplish eternal things! Jesus said,

“Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”

John 7:38

Our greatest earthly accomplishments can be limited to a strictly temporal purpose, or they can stretch across eternity. When the living water of God’s presence flows through us, it not only quenches our thirst, but it brings refreshing to the souls around us. As someone once said, “The hose that waters the lawn stays wet.” 😀

Basic Bible Concepts: Part 9 Spiritual Growth

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you, when they revile and persecute you and say, all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake, rejoice and be exceeding. Glad for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” ~Matthew 5:10-12
