William Shakespeare said, “The eyes are the windows of the soul.”
What do you think people see in when they look into YOUR soul?
A few years ago I met Julia while hiking in the woods. It was a total God-meeting (another story for another day). As we walked and talked, I was amazed at her aura of the presence of God. After about an hour with her, I felt as if my soul had been to a healing spa. She had given me the calm presence in her soul and—God’s presence within her had rejuvenated me. We have since become good friends and I even convinced her to use her extraordinary talent to record a few songs with me!
Isn’t it delightful to be in the presence of someone who has a soul filled with the presence of God?
There isn’t anything more precious, beautiful, or powerful than God’s presence! How do you think we allow people see HIM in OUR soul?
The Bible says:
“The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!” (Matthew 6:22-23)
Matthew 6:22-23
What we allow ourselves to see WILL affect what others see in us because EVERYTHING that comes into our EYES affects our SOUL. This is true for what we allow ourselves to hear as well. Garbage in, garbage out; light in, light out; darkness in, darkness out! The Psalmist said:
“I will not look with approval on anything that is vile…I will have nothing to do with what is evil.”
(Psalms 101:3-4)
In order for our soul to be full of the presence of God, we must guard it carefully from evil—whether it be TV, movies, books, music, people, etc.—ALL evil can make our soul a dark place. But when we are pouring the LIGHT and LOVE of Christ into our soul, people are refreshed in our presence. When we read God’s Word, study His ways, spend time in His presence, talk with Him, spend time with other children of God—our soul is constantly refreshed in the indescribable beauty and peace of God’s presence.
Everyone who is born again through Jesus Christ, CAN BE a carrier of God’s refreshing presence!
Today—let it be YOU!
Spend time with the greatest LOVER of your soul, and YOUR soul will overflow with HIS presence!
“For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish.”
Jeremiah 31:25
“He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”
Psalm 23:3
