Anytime I worry, I’m worrying MORE than I should. When I worry, it is insulting to God because I am doubting His character. My worry is a manifestation of my monumental ignorance of God’s love, power, and wisdom. God is NOT hiding the ball from me. He gives me all the tools I need to live a worry-free life. In fact, Jesus said:
“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.”
Matthew 7:7
God wants to give us all the resources and tools we need to fulfill our Divine purpose!
So how do we turn off the worry machine? When you’re lying at night and you can’t stop thinking about—how to make the next business deal, how to pay the bills, the war in Ukraine, the corruption in our government—what do you do? I can tell you the only thing that works for me.
I talk to God.
It’s a training process though. When I begin to worry—I try to immediately give the problem to Him and NOT take it back. Sometimes, I need to back up though and start with some other prayers. For example, confession, thanks, and praise. Why? Well, sin separates us from the closeness of God and confession—draws us back into His presence. Furthermore, praise and thanks helps us remember how big and powerful He is and how faithful He has been in the past. By acknowledging the power, love, and wisdom of God—our problem is put in perspective. Then we can take our petitions and intercessions to Him from a position of confidence. It make a difference!!!
Is it insulting to God when we worry?
Absolutely.
Does God know this about us?
Absolutely.
“As a father pities his children, So the Lord pities those who fear Him. For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust.” (Psalms 103:13-14)
That’s why God gave us the ability and privilege of prayer. When we seek Him, He will be found. He is waiting for us to ask.
The God Who created you, desires to guide you through every stormy sea.
