I was talking to a lady one day when the Holy Spirit led me to ask her whether she had ever received the gift of salvation. She didn’t know what I meant, so I shared my own story of redemption. As I shared, I felt the atmosphere in the room change. God’s Spirit took over the conversation. I can always tell when this happens, because I find myself speaking with a wisdom and clarity that isn’t mine. It’s Him—all Him. And I love it that way.
As we talked, I noticed her staring at me. After a pause in our conversation, she suddenly burst out, “Do you just wake up this way?”
Caught off guard, I asked, “What do you mean?”
She replied, “You glow, and I feel such peace around you.”
That’s when it hit me—she wasn’t seeing me at all. She was witnessing the presence of God.
So I told her, “No, I don’t just wake up this way. I spend an hour—sometimes two—every morning with God. I seek God’s presence and meditate on His Word, and I let Him fill me. If you see any glow in me, I promise you, it’s ALL God.”
Now, full disclosure—there are mornings when I completely miss the mark. I rush, I get distracted, and I can DEFINITELY tell the difference. But it’s still my goal every single day: to walk out of that secret place with God’s presence resting on me like a glowing light. Why? Because…God’s presence is transformational.
He is the peace that surpasses understanding.
He is the source of joy that bubbles up from the inside.
He is light that pushes back every shadow.
He is ageless, eternal, and beautiful beyond description.
When we spend real, intentional time with Him, we are changed. We carry Him into every room we enter. That’s what this woman saw—a glimpse of God’s presence.
Isaiah 58 speaks directly to a life that is—not empty religion, but Spirit-filled living. When we stop pretending and start surrendering, God meets us in our hunger and brokenness, and clothes us in His glory. The book of Isaiah states clearly that when we seek God daily and delight in His ways, then:
“…your light shall break forth like the morning,
Your healing shall spring forth speedily,
And your righteousness shall go before you;
The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.
Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer;
You shall cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’”
Isaiah 58:8–9
This isn’t about just being cheerful or youthful-looking. This is about divine radiance—the unmistakable evidence that you’ve been with Jesus. It’s the kind of beauty that doesn’t age, doesn’t fade, and doesn’t depend on your feelings or circumstances.
Take Moses, who, after meeting with God, the skin on his face literally glowed. It was so intense, he had to wear a veil when he came down from the mountain.
“Whenever Moses went in before the Lord to speak with Him, he would take the veil off… and when he came out… the skin of his face shone.” Exodus 34:34–35
Friend, we are called to shine with a heavenly light. But it’s not automatic. You don’t wake up with it. You have to seek God, because you can’t fake His presence. You must be intentional to spend time in prayer, worship, and the study of His Word in order to have His light radiate from you. 1 John 1:5 reminds us:
“God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.”
So, if you want to glow, draw near to the Light. Let Him renew you from the inside out. Let Him shine through your tired eyes, your aging skin, and your weary heart. And when people ask, “What’s different about you?”—you can tell them:
“It’s not me. It’s God.”
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, Thank You for the gift of Your presence. Thank You for shining Your light into the darkest corners of my life and filling me with peace the world can’t give. Help me to hunger for time with You—to carve out sacred space in my mornings, where I can be filled and refreshed. Let my life reflect Your beauty, strength, wisdom and glory. And when others see something in me, may they see You. Make me a vessel of Your love, Your peace, and Your light. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
