See, the Sovereign Lord comes with power, and He rules with a mighty arm. See, his reward is with Him…He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in His arms and carries them close to His heart; He gently leads those that have young.
Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the breadth of his Hand marked off the heavens? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance?
Who can fathom the Spirit of the Lord, or instruct the Lord as his counselor? Whom did the Lord consult to enlighten Him, and who taught Him the right way? Who was it that taught Him knowledge, or showed Him the path of understanding? Isaiah 40:10-14
We hone in on so many things that are not worthy of our greatest obsessions. We obsess over the health of a child or the details of our business. For years, we research and rack our brain to bridge the ragged gaps in relationships. We stress over things we know we cannot fix in hope that we can make a difference or make our life better.
But God has a much better way.
God must become our greatest delight. That means—His work, His will, His attitudes, His heart, His mind, and His way—must dominate our thoughts and habits…they must become our obsessions. Believe me, there is nothing we will obsess over that will give us a better life. When He is our Shepherd, our Source of Wisdom, the Lover of our soul, our Strength—we discover our only healthy obsession.
God is the only One who will never fail us.
There is nothing in this world that deserves our greatest affection more than God. When we receive His gift of salvation, we enter into a very special relationship with Him. He is the only one who completely knows us. He is the only One Who loves us more than anyone else has ever loved us.
God has solutions for ALL of our problems and desires great satisfaction for our soul. He is more than capable of supplying ALL of our needs.
He is God.
Our incomprehensibly amazing God is the most powerful, most compassionate, most creative, most intelligent, and most knowledgeable friend!
When God is our greatest obsession, we discover our greatest delight.
“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him! Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him. The young lions lack and suffer hunger; but those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing.” Psalms 34:8-10
“Heavenly Father, there is no problem too great or trouble too painful that You will not carry me through. Please give me the desire to know You. Help me to fall in love with You. You have all the answers. Help me make You my center. In Jesus name, Amen.”
