God’s wisdom reflects more than mere intellectual acumen. The proof we have it is in the transformation of our character. The Bible reveals this profound truth:
“Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good CONDUCT that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.
BUT the WISDOM that is from ABOVE is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.”
James 3:13-17
It is an impossibility to invite the wisdom of God into the chambers of our heart and also remain untouched by its influence.
God’s wisdom is not a mere cerebral exercise of reading and memorizing His Word; it is the catalyst for the metamorphosis of our entire being. With each encounter with wisdom, God’s character should also become more imprinted upon our lives. The evidence of God’s divine wisdom within us is not seen in a haughty display of knowledge. Pride only allows us to have the “wisdom” of our enemy.
Reflecting upon my own journey, I recall the years spent chasing the hollow allure of worldly wisdom, driven by my self-centered ambitions. But now, the closer I get to God and the more I allow His Word to conform the way I THINK, SPEAK, and LIVE—the more I see my life being guided by HIS supernatural wisdom. It is an incredible journey!
The evidence of God’s wisdom in us is unveiled in the tapestry of our character and deeds.
It is God’s wisdom that dissolves arrogance, fosters humility; gives birth to purity, gentleness, mercy, and the authenticity of His Spirit—all reflections of His boundless love. When we are born again and reconciled to Almighty God, an irreversible transformation begins to unfold. Our heart’s cadence is forever altered. Our words carry the weight and credibility of the character of God. What we speak is supported by God’s Word and is reflected in our clear conscience and the pure character of our life.
After God touches our hearts, we are never the same.
Where is the proof that a person’s wisdom is from God? When it comes from one who is—pure, peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial, and sincere. (James 3:17) What a revelation. What a challenge!
If we desire to speak with God’s wisdom, HIS character must be imprinted on our life.
