When we fall in love with God–it is such an unforgettable experience that our life is forever changed. We are stronger. We are wiser. We are less anxious. We are more full of joy. We know we are irrevocably loved. The experience is so unforgettable, we never want to walk away!
We dream of falling in love with someone who will be the ultimate lover of our heart. You know, someone who—knows what we need before we say a word; plans the best surprises for us; rescues us from danger; takes care of us when we’re sick; thinks we’re adorable even when we roll out of bed with a 102 degree fever, meets our physical needs, etc. The problem is—even if we find a PERSON who loves us very well—it’s never enough. And most of us never even come close to finding it. After years of disappointment in the experience of human love—we become cynical. By my late 20’s I thought true love was a fairy tale. Why???
Because without God at my center—the search for true love was a huge disillusionment.
My friend, learning to live with God at the center is a journey. It’s the precious gold in our life. The more I seek to make Him my center, the more He reveals it.
If you’re searching for that perfect love, feel free to click any of the following links and read the marvelous things God has taught me from His Word:
Supernatural Love. God loves us more than we know; and when we learn to love like He does we are wrapped in perfect love. The Bible says:
“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.”
1 John 4:7-9
When God becomes the most central part of our existence, meaning, we don’t want to live even one day without a strong sense of His presence, we begin to understand how well we are already loved and we are not driven by a desperate NEED for love in our relationships with others. We become delighted in His presence and we discover some basic, but delightful truths:
~God knows EXACTLY what we need before we do.
~God plans extraordinary surprises for each day.
~God rescues us from danger we don’t even know about.
~God loves us at our ugliest and worst!
~God loves us beyond our comprehension of the word “love.”
Acts 17:28 states: “In HIM we LIVE and MOVE and have our BEING.” God is the perfect lover. Indeed, when I think back about the experience of being in love with a man, I remember how my life; indeed, even my thoughts and who I was—revolved around grasping for each precious moment with my lover. I planned for him, hoped to be with him, rearranged my life for him, and even conformed who I was—for him. I “lived, moved and had my being”–in my earthly lover. My love transformed me to center my life around another imperfect person and so, of course, I was eventually deeply disappointed.
But God does not disappoint!
As I’ve discovered the perfection of God’s love, it has, likewise, transformed me. But it wasn’t like my lover because He never fails. I never want to be without Him. His love causes me to rearrange my schedule so I’m on His schedule. I plan for special times to meet Him alone. I desire to conform my life to please Him. He is the reason for the light in my eyes and the smile on my face. He is the reason I get out of bed in the morning with hope for the new day. I’ve found love that never hurts me and never fails me. When I’m with Him—I’m never alone.
God’s presence is the fountain from which the greatest love flows.
