Trustin’

trustin'

One day I was talking to a lady who had given up on her marriage and she said: “I’m just so tired of trying!” I said: “Trying without trusting makes it harder than it should.” That day–this song was born! So happy to be able to release it on my son’s 21st birthday!

Trustin’ will resonate with those who have experienced heartbreak. Like many of you–I’ve been there multiple times. I’ve been desperate and wondered why I wasn’t good enough. I let myself be used and ended up a worn out, worthless mess. That’s where God found me. He thought I was worth His love. Through His tender care–I found myself–in Him. I also discovered His love is more true and pure than anyone I’ve ever known. His love is even truer than my own love for myself. Through knowing Him–I’m learning to trust Him more than I trust myself–not just in love–but in all things!

LYRICS

VERSE 1

There he goes again, and I’m left picking up the pieces
I’m so broken when will it end?
Another lonely night and I can’t seem to find
The one who really knows me and will make it all right
Cuz I never seem to be ever quite good enough
To make him really love me and I’m just so tired of trying

REFRAIN

When I try without Trustin’, I make it harder than I should
When I try without Trustin’, I doubt God is so good
He went through hell just to save me
His love is the best, so why would I ever try without Trustin’?

VERSE 2

He smiles just once, my crazy heart does a dance
Takes me to the top and leaves me to crash
Oh dear God, did I really do this again?
Shut out the memories I don’t wanna live with them
Fill my broken heart with a love I’ve never known
Take me in your arms cuz I’m just so tired of tryin’
BRIDGE 1

Got no reason to trust myself, got no reason to cry
Got no reason to trust myself, Lord know I tried
(Repeat)

BRIDGE 2
O Lord help me find myself in you
Your love makes me worthy, you alone are true
(Repeat)

FINAL VERSE
You went through hell just to save me
Your love is the best, so why would I–
Why would I–ever try without Trustin’?
Oh when I’m Trustin’, I’m living just like I should
Oh when I’m Trustin’, I know God is so good
Oh when I’m Trustin’, I’m living just like I should
Oh you can trust Him, He is so good
Got no reason to trust myself, got no reason to cry
Got no reason to trust myself, Lord knows I tried!
