Almost every day, people I meet say, “I want the peace you have;” or, they ask, “How are you so strong—even in terrible trouble?” I always point them to God. But—not a god I invented based upon my version of “truth.” No, that “god” can’t do anything for anyone. The fact is, God’s Word tells us exactly who He is. It reveals the Creator of REAL truth.
And when God’s truth becomes our truth—every area of our life is transformed to His will and—this brings us peace, love, joy, strength, comfort and all the good things money can’t buy.
My friend, God’s Word is the ONLY truth to guide and equip us against the lies of our enemies. Satan NEVER tells us the truth. Through individual Bible study, being part of a strong church community, and loving obedience to God’s Word—we become supremely confident of THE truth. The truth is our absolute defense—even in the face of Satan’s worst lies. He is the father of lies. (John 8:44) JESUS is the way, the TRUTH, and life. (John 14:6). When we know HIS truth then…
We KNOW who GOD is;
We KNOW who WE are;
We KNOW who the ENEMY is; and
We KNOW our glorious purpose.
But God’s Word must become the foundation for how we THINK, TALK, and ACT. When we hide God’s Word in our heart, it lights our path. (Psalms 119:11;105) Isn’t it amazing that the wisdom of God’s Word can be an integral part of every waking moment and set the standard for every decision? So amazing!
By immersing ourselves in God’s Word, we learn how to THINK, SPEAK, and ACT according to TRUTH. We are passionate about being set free by the truth instead of being enslaved by lies. Jesus said:
“If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:31-32
A person who lives in the freedom of God’s truth has unmistakable peace. It’s a bright light in the darkness of anxiety. We are enabled to readily discern between truth and falsehood.
While Satan, the father of lies, seeks to deceive us, God’s Word powerfully frees us from his deception.
The Bible is not just a collection of words to memorize. Rather, it is embodied with the power of Jesus, who not only spoke the world into existence, but is—the Savior of all humanity!
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” John 1:1-5,14
There is no word spoken by humans more powerful than the Word of God!
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12
God, in His infinite wisdom, created set points of righteousness for our life to operate at optimal performance. We find these truths in His Word and it is the ONLY truth worth knowing. Any “truth” which contradicts God’s standard comes from a malevolent spirit.
If you want to have true success, lasting joy, real love, amazing satisfaction, and a life of peace, then love God’s Word more than you love any other book or source of information. God’s Word promises us so much more! The Psalmist wrote:
“I will walk at liberty, for I seek Your precepts.
This is my comfort in my affliction, for Your word has given me life.
The law of Your mouth is better to me than thousands of coins of gold and silver.
Unless Your law had been my delight, I would then have perished in my affliction. I will never forget Your precepts, for by them You have given me life.” Psalms 119:45, 50, 72, 92-93
God’s Word is the best gift we can give ourselves because it opens us to a life of deep satisfaction, peace, love, comfort, and strength.
