You know, I was in my office the other day and I had a person who was telling me, you know, I just don’t have a purpose in life. I don’t know what my purpose is, and I don’t feel like I have much value. And so, as I was talking, it became apparent to me that the person did not know Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

In fact, when I asked them, well, where do you think you should get your purpose from? It was interesting that what this person said was really what our world culture teaches us is that we have to obtain our value from ourselves or from other people, or from the possessions that we get. And, you know, according to the Bible, that’s not what we were intended to do. So it shouldn’t surprise us that we lose our sense of value, or we lose our sense of purpose, or we are not excited about our life. And so I was able to share with this person something that God has been teaching me, because I’m just like most people, I tend to get my value from the things that I have, the people I’m around, my family, especially my family, or my friends or my position.

And so God kind of took me back to Psalms 139 and reminded me, I’m going to read this excerpt. It says, for you formed my inward parts. You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise you for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Marvelous are your works. And that my soul knows very well, my frame was not hidden from you when I was made in secret and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance being yet unformed. And in your book, they were all written the days fashioned for me when as yet there were none of them. How precious are your thoughts to me? Oh God, how great is the sum of them? Wow. I just, you think about how incredible it is that God made each of us in his image and created us for His glory. And yet we stand back and wonder what our purpose is. The creator of all the things that we think are good made us. And he wrote every day for us. And so, how do you think you develop a strong sense of purpose or a strong sense of knowing what God has for you? What is this great story he’s written for you? Well, the answer is simple. We must know him too, we must know the one who knows the plan, right? Otherwise, we’ll never know the plan. And of course, that starts when we give our life to Jesus Christ for salvation. When we surrender to his plan for us, and we realize that we are unable to save ourselves, we are unable to do anything to save ourselves. Because the Bible says that we are sinners and we don’t have any hope without Christ. Otherwise, why did Christ die in the first place if we could earn our own salvation

So, when we are born again, our soul and spirit are made alive in Christ, and we are enabled to know him. We are enabled to know who we are, who we really are, and what our purpose is. And so to know the real you, to know the real purpose, the great purpose that God has written for you, you must first be born again. And then after you’re born again, you can’t just sit there. You know, when a baby is born, it has to grow, right? Has to learn the language of the civilization it grows up in. It has to learn how to survive. It has to learn how to be independent. And of course, no one is truly independent. We are all dependent upon each other. No matter how high we rise in civilization, you know, even the most powerful people, even the oligarchs, even the richest people, the billionaires of the world depend on people. I mean, who’s going to take out the trash, right? I mean, that would be me.

So the ultimate, the ultimate experience of understanding our value and understanding our purpose is to know the one who made us. And to acknowledge our complete dependence upon God. That’s the only way that we can really learn to be the masterpiece that God created us to be. And indeed we are a masterpiece. You know, I was reading about Dr. Francis Collins, who was the leader of the Human Genome Project. He said that the most advanced computer program code cannot compare to the complex code, which God put inside the nucleus of each of our cells. In the microscopic space of each tiny cell is a code 3 billion letters long, and it would take half a lifetime to read. We can’t wrap our minds around that. And this is the God who says to us that I wrote the code that made those cells, the God that put those all together. And so now you’re looking at a group of cells in this camera, right? And they’re all functioning together magnificently. And the God that put that together said, Hey, I wrote a story for you. Don’t you want to know it? And then he went even further. He went and he died on the cross and suffered terribly to reconcile us into a relationship with him. And you know, we are just, he’s just waiting. He’s waiting. Hey, if you want to know the plan, if you want to know how to experience a life of deepest satisfaction, then come see me. Come see me. Seek me out. Read my word. Passionately seek me.

I thought about  what a tragedy it would be if I was at a track meet and saw an eighth grade boy, run a hundred meters in 9.7 seconds, and then he says I’m not going to run again. No, I’m done. I’m afraid to try. I may not be so fast next time. I don’t want to push myself. I don’t want to take my training to the next level. Don’t you think, I mean, I would be like, dude, you are missing out on an experience that could be. You could be the fastest man in the world. And so when we forgo, taking advantage of the relationship that God has already bought for us, when we forgo growing in that relationship, it’s like we’re failing to train. It’s like we’re failing to, we’re like, we’re afraid to become Usain Bolt, right? I think he’s still the fastest man in the world, I don’t know. We have a great purpose, and we were designed with a specific purpose. Jeremiah 31:3 says, and this is God speaking, he says, I have loved you with an everlasting love, therefore, with loving kindness, I have drawn you. You know, God uses his goodness to draw us into a relationship with him. The Bible says, and I can’t remember where this is found, but it’s in the Bible. It says that the goodness of God leads us to repentance. Repentance is, I’m going this direction, and I turn around, do a 180, and I go in a totally different direction. So if we are going to learn how to have purpose in life, if we’re going to learn how to find out who we really are, then we have to acknowledge that God’s ways are better than our ways. We have to surrender to him.

You know, the original sin in the garden was Eve believing the lie of Satan, that she doesn’t really need God, that she could live independently from God. She could be like God and therefore did not need God. And admit it or not, that original sin is still alive and well, it is in every human. And we struggle with it. And unfortunately, just like with Eve in the garden with this sin of independence, a sin of not pursuing God, because we don’t believe God knows better than we do, we don’t believe God loves us better than we love ourselves. We don’t believe that God has a better plan than we do. That decision keeps us from knowing who we really are. That decision keeps us from living in the magnificent plan God has for us. And, you wonder why there’s such a high suicide rate. You wonder why people are so disconnected to society, disconnected to even their own drive and purpose. They’re sad, they’re lonely. It’s because they’ve disconnected from God who is love. You know, God’s love, the opposite of love, according to the Bible’s definition, isn’t hate. The opposite of love is selfishness. And when we choose ourself and our own ways over what God has planned for us, what God has written in his word, then of course we’re going to become lost. Of course, we’re going to become lonely, of course we’re going to become separated from the great purpose for which he made us.

And so, if you are searching for that great purpose, you know, remember God is vested in you. God is, he’s so vested in you. He gave his life for you when you didn’t like him. You weren’t even his friend when he gave his life for you. I wasn’t either. And he said, but Kim was worth it. He said, whoever’s watching this video, you are worth it. You are worth it to me. I’m going to die and I’m going to suffer terribly so that you have this opportunity to be reconciled to me and to know what it’s like to walk in my wonderful presence.

And so, you know, I just felt like this video was something I wanted to share. Because first of all, you know, if you don’t know that you have an amazing purpose in life, if you haven’t figured that out, then there’s only one way to figure that out. It won’t be earning billions of dollars. It won’t be in finding the ultimate lover. It won’t be finding it having children who are successful. It won’t be in having a wonderful house and a beautiful car and a wonderful job. And even it won’t  be in doing good things for God, that’s not going to be where you find your purpose. Your purpose is only revealed when you are close to the one who knows your purpose. You are close to the one who made you, the one who made you and wrote a book for and  about you. That He wants for you, good things. And so, I just want everybody watching this video to know that God made you a masterpiece. He has a plan so search for him. He’s looking for you. Run to him. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be afraid of him. God doesn’t have bad stuff planned for you. In fact, the bad stuff that will happen to you, he plans to carry you through it. He plans to give you his steady joy through it and make you even more beautiful in the refining process.

So my friend, if you’re looking for purpose in life, I want you to know that the Bible says you are a masterpiece, and that you have a master story to tell. And I pray that you will search the scripture. If you have a topic you don’t understand, feel free to go on my website. You can search by topics. And if there’s something I haven’t talked about, you can email us and and you know, we want to help you. And there’s lots of resources. You probably have a pastor you can talk to, maybe a friend that you know. Bottom line is, when people look at us and we claim to be Christians, the bottom line is that they should see Jesus when they look at us. They should see Jesus. And what does Jesus look like? Well, what does love look like? The Bible says that the fruits of God’s spirit, the proof of God’s spirit is love, and the fruits of his spirit are love, joy, peace, goodness, kindness, gentleness, meekness, right out of Galatians Five. And that’s what we should, when people look in my eyes, that’s what I want them to see. When people look at my life, that’s what I want them to see. I want them to see the genuine masterpiece of him, not me. People should see the different unique perspective that each  life offers of who God is. And so isn’t that marvelous? And so, I hope that you will search for God and He’s  looking for you. He really is. And he has an amazing plan for you. So I hope that this will help you and encourage you and inspire you to find that.

  1. Kim, excellent. Loved this. I have had Occipital Neuralgia for over 29 years. I suffer in agony and yes I’m unfortunately on medication. I have cried out to God for full healing. I lose my motor skills etc. I do good for months and I go completely down. I was beaten severely as a child. I literally begged God last night to heal me. I know he doesn’t have to on Earth. I have been to healings, I have been trying. I said to God how can I serve you this way? Because you know I don’t want to not bare fruit. I ask for spiritual bondage to be set free, rebuke the enemy. Reach out to my Pastor. I literally beg. Just please 🙏 I would get fully healed. Occipital Neuralgia is very dehabilating. I’m not going to lie, you want to give up. But I rebuke the enemy, repent of sins. I have even doubted my Salvation. I will continue to ask for Salvation when you only need to be saved once. Been Baptized. This spoke to me. I ask him what is my purpose being on medication and in bed? My body literally just goes down. I’m active for months and then I just go completely down. Anyone reading this. God has a purpose. Kim, I’m inpatient I want to be what he wants right now. I’m just having major downtime and not functioning well. God knows 🙏

    1. Oh, my dear…I’m so sorry you are suffering so much! I don’t have good enough words to give you but I do know that Jesus is our high Priest who has endured suffering and we don’t have to walk through it alone. A blessing that I noted from your message is that you have a sound mind and an empathetic heart—both amazing gifts—like my mother, who is a prayer warrior and has never let her health issues keep her from being a prayer warrior of the mightiest order. Do NOT give up—that’s what your enemies want you to do! It’s okay to tell God exacty how you feel! Next week’s video is “How To Get Out Of the Black Hole: You are not alone!” We are all there from time to time! You are in my prayers tonight!

  2. Wow….. this hit home. Really good stuff. I’ve felt like I was close to God, obviously not close enough cause I too have these feelings often. Once again in my life, Kim, you are opening my eyes and pushing me to be better by getting an even better relationship with God. The first time I was mad at God, I didn’t have a relationship with Him although I told myself I did. This time I do have a relationship with Him but I need a closer, better one still ❤️

    1. Amy,this excites me for you! Thank you for sharing!!! I know without a doubt that God sent you into my life. You are such an encouragement to me sweet lady! Love you girl!

Basic Bible Concepts: Part 9 Spiritual Growth

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you, when they revile and persecute you and say, all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake, rejoice and be exceeding. Glad for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” ~Matthew 5:10-12
