Knowing Who You Are Will Keep You On The Path of Peace

I work in an adversarial system. Indeed, the legal system does little to build people up or to promote peace. While it’s one thing to experience attacks in the courtroom, it’s a million times worse when it comes from within your inner circle. When someone you have trusted and loved mounts a personal attack that goes to the very core of who you are—it’s brutal. In order to move forward without losing your peace of mind it’s imperative to know exactly—who you are.

When you belong to Christ, you may know, unequivocally, who you are no matter what anyone says about you.

But the key to knowing who you are is found in…100% knowing you belong to Christ.

What does this mean?

When we accept Christ as our Savior and Lord, a spiritual genetic change occurs that gives us the “mind of Christ.” Jesus is never confused about who He is and as HIS children—we can know exactly who we are too.

Sooo…how can belonging to Christ help you know who you are?

The Bible explains:

“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him. But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so NO ONE knows the things of God except [by] the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might KNOW the things that have been FREELY given to us by God. These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man does not receive [understand] the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges [or knows] all things [has] the mind of Christ.”

(Summary of ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭2:9-16‬)

When we belong to Christ, we KNOW we are NOT defined by the opinions of others because…God is NOT. If He were defined by opinions—He would not be Almighty God. When the opinions of others begin to shake your faith in who you are…you can turn to God and pray like the Psalmist:

“Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning, for in You do I trust; cause me to know the way in which I should walk, for I lift up my soul to You. Deliver me, O Lord, from my enemies; in You I take shelter. Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God; Your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness. Revive me, O Lord, for Your name’s sake! For Your righteousness’ sake bring my soul out of trouble. In Your mercy cut off my enemies, and destroy all those who afflict my soul; for I am Your servant.”

Psalms‬ ‭143:8-12‬

Basic Bible Concepts: Part 9 Spiritual Growth

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you, when they revile and persecute you and say, all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake, rejoice and be exceeding. Glad for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” ~Matthew 5:10-12
