During my morning quiet time, I sometimes find my mind drifting off to plan my day. This is counterproductive. God knows what is going to happen today and He knows best how to handle it. The best plan I can make is to stay close to Him!
God has the best plan for today!
While my plans may seem right to me, unfortunately, many of the decisions I thought were right, end up setting me back. I need to have God’s perspective for each minute of the day.
The bottom line is—we don’t have God’s perspective—without God.
The Bible warns us plainly:
“There is a way that SEEMS right to a man, But its end is the way of death.”
Proverbs 16:25
The Bible also instructs us on how to avoid the pitfalls of our wrong thinking:
“The preparations of the heart belong to man, But the answer of the tongue is from the LORD. All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, But the Lord weighs the spirits. COMMIT your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established.”
Proverbs 16:1-3
We were created for God’s glory, and when we commit 100% of everything we are, and all we have to Him—HE establishes our way of thinking. Isn’t that exciting? The God of all the universe will put His thoughts into our mind!!!
Time after time, I have found this to be true. When I commit my whole heart to God, HE directs my thoughts and establishes my path. He guides me and places opportunities before me. He closes doors that I am not supposed to walk through. He grabs me by the shirt tail when I try to go the wrong direction.
God gives us the extraordinary opportunity to be guided by HIS Word and HIS Spirit.
To ground myself in God’s way of thinking, the following two verses are nearly always a part of my morning prayers:
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
Psalm 119:105
“Thy word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against thee.”
Psalm 119:11
My friend, if you are born again, God spirit is alive within you. You are empowered to have each step directed by HIM. God has an amazing plan for you today. Commit to obey HIM with your whole heart and make HIM the center of everything you do, and HIS Word promises that HE will direct your steps. There are no greater steps you will take today than the steps you take with God.
“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way.”
Psalms 37:23
