Prayer is a critical component of living a completely satisfied life because—it connects us to God in a very personal way. While being an active member of a church provides us community and discipleship; direct communication with God plugs us into a different dimension of His presence. Like a marriage rich with great communication, prayer is the connection to enhance our direct relationship with God. To neglect our prayer life, is to deprive ourselves. It is a crucial element to discovering a deeply satisfying life!
The subject of prayer is vast and will not be thoroughly explored in this devotional; however, If you are interested in learning simple and effective methods of prayer, we have a 10 day devotional series on it. This devotional is a reminder to encourage prayer in your pursuit of God. He has made us some very exciting promises about prayer. Read the following thoughts and verses and allow God to fill you with great anticipation.
God promises us great and mighty things through prayer!!!
“Thus says the Lord who made it, the Lord who formed it [the earth] to establish it (the Lord is His name): ‘CALL to Me, and I will ANSWER you, and show you GREAT and MIGHTY things, which you do not know.'”
Jeremiah 33:2-3
God helps us pray when we don’t know how.
“Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”
Romans 8:26-27
God longs to give us MORE than we ask.
“And I say unto you, ASK, and it shall be GIVEN you; SEEK, and ye shall FIND; KNOCK, and it shall be OPENED unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much MORE shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?”
Luke 11:9-13
We can pray with confidence when we pray according to God’s will and for HIS glory.
“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.”
I John 5:14-15
We were created for God’s glory. When we realize how desperately we need God, prayer becomes essential to our daily life. We recognize that every blessing we are given is another reason to glorify Him. Just as water is essential to sustain life; prayer provides us with a means to renew our soul with the “living water.” (John 7:37)
Prayer is a direct connection to God, trust in Him, He has great and mighty things planned to satisfy your soul!
