God’s Richest Gifts For You At Christmas

Share

gifts (2)

I often need God to slow me down in the midst of the December insanity. It is so easy to become consumed by the pressure to—buy the right gifts, attend holiday functions, decorate the house, buy plane tickets, and coordinate meals and gatherings.

MY frantic plans often ruin GOD’s plans—for HIS birthday.

God is faithful to remind me—it’s HIS birthday and it should be ALL about HIM. Isn’t it ironic how Christ’s birth set a plan in motion that was—ALL about US? He wanted to reconcile us to Him and what did He do? He GAVE. (John 3:16) He was born to then die so that we could be saved from an eternity without Him. I am so humbled that He lovingly reminds me of HOW to celebrate the richness of Christmas!

What do I mean by “richness of Christmas?

Is it gifts? Is it the events? Is it family? The Bible says:

For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.

2 Corinthians 8:9

We cannot fathom the degree of richness Christ gave up in leaving the splendors of Heaven in order to come to earth to die for us. WHY did He do this? So WE could become “rich.” If you aren’t richly satisfied—it’s NOT because you don’t have enough stuff, a better family, a more prestigious job, or more other sources of worldly satisfaction. It’s because you were created to be RICH in something much greater than the world can give you.

Did you know God created you to be fully and completely satisfied within a relationship with Him?

It is only after we are born again that we RICHLY enjoy the life God has given us. He is so good! The Bible says:

Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come…

1 Timothy 6:17-19

What are the richest gifts God gives us? They are the gifts that flow from HIS presence—the things money cannot buy—the fruits of HIS Spirit!

[T]he fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

Galatians 5:22-23

It is NOT the things of this world or people around us that can give us unchanging love, joy, and peace in ALL circumstances. True richness comes from our unchanging, faithful God!

Do you REALLY want to have God’s richest GIFTS for YOU this Christmas?

If so, you’re in for a treat! Surrender everything to Him. Give Him your whole heart, your resources, and your time. You will be amazed!

When we ask God for guidance with a heart fully open to His plan, He is faithful to give us an experience of joy far exceeding anything we would have ever discovered on our own!

God’s plan takes us from our selfishness, fear, pride, and vanity—the things that rob us of love, joy, and peace—and introduces us to a richness we’ve never known. God’s presence gives us richness enabling us to give from the ONLY well that never runs out.

The love we give is never a waste—even to those who reject it.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

John 3:16

Jesus GAVE His heart and time to people everywhere He went. He didn’t discriminate based upon economic status, social foibles, religious affiliation, failure, race, or any human factor. His focus was the treasure He saw in each person created in His image. When we choose to live in His presence, we capture the essence of the richness of Christmas.

The richness of Christmas is experienced by giving with the heart of Christ.

Basic Bible Concepts: Part 9 Spiritual Growth

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you, when they revile and persecute you and say, all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake, rejoice and be exceeding. Glad for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” ~Matthew 5:10-12
