God’s Perspective Part 2: The Exciting Benefits

Share

God's perspective exciting benefits

Yesterday we discussed HOW we obtain God’s perspective—that is by reading and applying God’s Word with a surrendered heart. As I was writing and studying, I was reminded of Psalm 119, which is the longest chapter in the Bible—entirely devoted to praising and reflecting on the power, beauty, and benefits of God’s Word. Ah, the benefits of viewing life from God’s perspective are so invaluable. Here are just a few of the benefits:

1. God will guide and direct our life:

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105

The God who runs the universe wants to give you Divine direction in this dark world. His Word—by His Spirit—will navigate choices, help you avoid pitfalls, and keep you aligned with His Divine will for your life.

2. God will guard our heart and mind.

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭6‬-‭7‬

God’s perspective guards our hearts and minds by anchoring us in truth that transcends our circumstances. When we choose to see life through His eternal lens—trusting His sovereignty, timing, and goodness—we’re no longer ruled by fear, pressure, or confusion. Instead of being overwhelmed by what we can’t control, we rest in what God has already promised. His peace becomes a shield, protecting our thoughts from spiraling and our hearts from despair. As we release our burdens to Him, His perspective replaces panic with peace; and His peace stands guard like a sentry over our heart and mind. It’s amazing!

3. God will give us strength in affliction.

“This is my comfort in my affliction, for Your Word has given me life.” Psalm 119:50

God desires to give us HIS strength in the very middle of our affliction. Jesus is the Word—and we know HE conquered eternal death. Thus, as we read His written Word with a surrender to Him as the Living Word, we enter into His presence where we gain a stronger sense that no enemy can defeat us. This is a greater strength than even having relief from our affliction. Our comfort doesn’t come from changed circumstances, but from God’s presence. His perspective reshapes our thinking about affliction, and we gain strength to endure, wisdom to respond, and hope that refuses to quit.

4. God will give us his wisdom.

“Through Your precepts I get understanding; therefore I hate every false way.” Psalm 119:104

“I have more understanding than all my teachers, for Your testimonies are my meditation.” Psalm 119:99

God desires to give us the wisdom and benefits of His perspective—and He does it through both the written Word and the Living Word, Jesus Christ. The Bible is not just a book of principles; it is the voice of the Savior who desires to walk with us. Scripture is not just knowledge—it is an encounter with the mind and heart of Jesus. True understanding comes from His precepts, but that understanding deepens when we walk with the One who fulfilled them. When the presence of Christ meets the truth of His Word, we gain wisdom that transcends earthly thinking. It’s beyond incredible!

5. God will give us joy, delight, and love.

“I rejoice at Your word as one who finds great treasure.” Psalm 119:162

“Your testimonies are also my delight and my counselors.” Psalm 119:24

God is the Creator of ALL the truly delightful things in life. When we view life through His perspective, we begin to treasure what He treasures. Then, we understand the great value of His Word—why it is rich, satisfying, and full of life. As the One who designed us, God knows exactly what brings us the deepest joy: communion with Him—our only source of true joy and real love. His Word is the greatest love letter and source of joy for our soul.

6. God will give us the perfect freedom found in loving obedience to Him.

“I will walk at liberty, for I seek Your precepts.” Psalm 119:45

“Oh, how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day.” Psalm 119:97

Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey… But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed… and having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.” Romans 6:16–18

Everyone serves a master; the question is whether yours leads to bondage or life. If you are born again, you are now equipped to live in freedom. True liberty isn’t doing whatever we want—it’s the freedom to live subject to the best Master.

Summary:

My friend, God desires to give us His perspective and be our guide, guard, comfort, source of wisdom, joy, freedom, and love. When we treasure our relationship with Him and we read His Word with a surrendered heart, we gain direction, comfort, wisdom, strength, love, and intimacy with the Author Himself. Tomorrow, we are going to finish this powerful series by discussing how God’s perspective changes what we value.

Challenge:

Before reacting to situations that cause stress, frustration, or temptation, pause and filter your response through God’s Perspective. Ask: “What is God’s perspective about this situation?” Then, respond, not from impulse, but from the truth of God’s perspective.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for the gift of Your Word and Your presence. Teach me to treasure Your Word, and obey it, and trust it—especially when my heart is weary or the world feels uncertain. Shape my thoughts, purify my motives, and deepen my love for You. Help me hide Your Word in my heart, so I do not sin against You. Make me a person who reads Your Word with a surrendered heart, so I may think it, speak it, and live it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
