God’s Love Is A Choice

Share

choice

As much as we may try to persuade others of God’s goodness—we must remember that God’s love is a choice. All love is a choice. And while we are often fooled by the false promises of counterfeit love; God continues to extend His offer for us to enter into the experience of His supernatural love. But, no amount of persuasion can change a heart that does not desire TO love—and to BE loved by—God, Who IS love.

We must pray and allow God’s Spirit to draw others into the relationship—first for salvation; and then—into the magnificent fellowship of His presence.

We make thousands of micro-decisions each day, and when we make Him Lord of ALL our decisions, we enter into His glorious presence. He teaches us how to love like He loves. Love is work. Love is HARD work. We must often bridge the gap to enduring love through generous forgiveness. We learn how to do REAL love—a love that “endures all things, hopes all things, believes all things, bears all things.” (1 Corinthians 13)

To love like God does—is a choice that is powered by His Spirit but—it’s the best choice we ever make.

Choosing to love God more than we love anything else is choosing the best and most blessed life. Before the Israelites were getting ready to cross the Jordan River to possess the Promised Land, they were told:

“See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, in that I command you today to LOVE the Lord your God, to WALK in His ways, and to KEEP His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may LIVE and multiply; and the Lord your God will BLESS you in the land which you go to possess.

BUT if your heart turns away so that you do not hear, and are drawn away, and worship other gods and serve them, I announce to you today that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to go in and possess.

I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore CHOOSE LIFE that both you and your descendants may live; that you may LOVE the Lord your God, that you may OBEY His voice, and that you may CLING to Him, for HE is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.”

Deuteronomy‬ ‭30‬:‭15‬-‭20‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

My friend, we live our best life when we—CLING to God. HE is the giver of life and when we make Him the center of every decision; we live in the incredibly blessed life He intended for us. Without the presence of God, we will never experience LIFE as HE intended and—we will never experience LOVE as He intended.

I have NEVER experienced a love—like God’s love!

God loved me long before I even acknowledged His love. But I was too blind to see it. I chose to pursue the acceptance and love of people instead of the love of God. I traded the very essence of who God made me in exchange for things that would never bring me joy. The things and people I loved—never loved me enough in return. That’s because they couldn’t. None of us can. Without God, we aren’t able to love like we were created to be loved.

We desperately seek to be loved by others because we don’t understand that we must get our love from God, who IS love.

We are created in God’s image, to love Him above all else, and to find our completeness in Him. Although we are designed to love Him, He doesn’t demand our love because then, it would no longer be love. When we seek God with a completely open heart, we discover His extraordinary love. When He is the greatest love of our life we experience peace, security, joy, fulfillment, amazement, and such a sense of wonder that it seems too good to be true! His love floods our heart, flows out of it, and pours into the lives of others. We learn to expect nothing from others because we already have everything we need in Him.

When we talk with God, think like Him, walk with Him, and seek to be in the center of His will—we experience His perfect love!‬‬‬

Basic Bible Concepts: Part 9 Spiritual Growth

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you, when they revile and persecute you and say, all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake, rejoice and be exceeding. Glad for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” ~Matthew 5:10-12
