Finding The Power Of God’s Purpose When Overwhelmed By The Responsibilities Of Life

Share

responsibilities

Sometimes it seems like I’m falling into a black hole. I’m completely overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of my responsibilities—and I feel myself losing a sense of God’s purpose for my life. Like a fish out of water, I gasp for air and wonder if I’ll ever get everything done on time–or even at all. I despair at failing and disappointing others. The voracious demands on my time, my heart, and my resources seem to be eating me alive. I solve one problem and three more appear. I ask God “What am I doing wrong?” I remind Him that I truly desire to live in His will and for His glory.

And then…my friend…faithful God pours out His answer like cool rain soaking into the parched earth of my mind. He reminds me…

…MY time is not MINE..it’s HIS;

…MY heart is not MINE…it’s HIS;

…MY resources are not MINE…they are HIS!

To live in peace in the tumultuous storm, I need only ask one question every minute of the day:

“God what is it YOU want me to do next—to bring YOU glory?

God reminds me that I need to be just as vigilant and determined to have Him guide me in the easy times as I am in the hard times. Just setting my direction off even one degree will eventually take me where I was NEVER destined to go. But if I’ve trained myself to be guided by God—in both the good times and the bad times—when the tsunami rolls in, God’s steady and familiar hand will remind me that there is no need to be panicked or overwhelmed.

God is never panicked or overwhelmed.

You see, God, who is already in the future—ALWAYS knows what to do next. When I ask God, He is faithful to guide me and fill me with the strength of His Spirit. He refocuses me. He fills me with a sense of victory even before the battle is over. Yes, the mountains of responsibilities and problems are still there but they are put in God’s omniscient perspective.

While God reigns supreme, high above the mountains—He is also here with me in the valley.

He can see every danger, every enemy, every bit of treachery in my future. He has a plan to walk me through it all (not necessarily around it). I am only safe from fear, despair, and ruin when I am walking with him. When walking in God’s will—my responsibilities are NEVER mine—they are HIS. In fact, He even identifies the energy-zapping activities and leads me to abandon them.

When my life is perpetually yielded to God, He sorts it all out and I do not become overwhelmed by responsibilities.

God’s faithful presence brings me back into alignment with His glorious purpose for my life. When I am determined to love Him with all of my heart, soul, and mind—He takes the small seeds of my obedience and multiplies them in His grand purpose. God makes powerful promises for those who seek Him with all their heart:

“Seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near.

Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, and He will have mercy on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon. [The Lord says:]

‘For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.

For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it SHALL ACCOMPLISH what I [God] please, and it SHALL PROSPER in the thing for which I sent it‘.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭55‬:‭6‬-‭11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

In God’s will, our life is NEVER a failure; it will ALWAYS produce the fruit HE intends to grow through us.

It is incredibly humbling to see God use broken people like me to make an ETERNAL difference! My friend, if you are a born again believer but yet—feel like you’re in a tailspin—let God have the rudder, the yoke, and give you HIS power. Don’t hold onto it, lest you crash and burn. I’m talking to myself right now! I’ve never been in a more difficult and unsettling time in my entire life but—I don’t want to pilot this precious life without God’s divine presence. I’m clearly not as good at my life as He is. God’s flight plan, navigation skills, and fuel—are all better than mine. I’m nothing without Him. I want God’s power, wisdom, and love to guide me. Every day.

At the end of my life, I want to look back and see the footprints of God everywhere I’ve been, don’t you?

Basic Bible Concepts: Part 9 Spiritual Growth

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you, when they revile and persecute you and say, all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake, rejoice and be exceeding. Glad for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” ~Matthew 5:10-12
