Because our three enemies work hard to destroy our image of God, we NEED to work even harder to understand our powerful, loving, and wise, Heavenly Father!!!
God gave me this story to remind me what the relationship should look like.
Once upon a time, there was a little orphan girl who lived in the ghetto. In dirty, ragged clothes, she begged for food. The King of all the land heard about her plight, searched the ghetto, and found her. The King offered to adopt her and she gladly accepted. He took her to his palace and treated her as a daughter.
The King gave his daughter everything she needed, even things she never dreamed of having, or never could have ever earned on her own!
Every morning, her father and her met to plan the day. Her father was never too busy for even the smallest questions. As she experienced the satisfaction of her father’s presence, she searched for even more ways to please him. The girl knew she was greatly loved by the King and she totally trusted her life to him. Even when her old acquaintances from the ghetto would persuade her to come visit the dirty streets where she’d lived before—she never stayed because she missed her father too much. Nothing in the ghetto compared to her new life! Furthermore, the more she loved her father, the less he denied her requests, because he knew her desire was to do good. As a result…
This girl had the absolute power of the throne at her disposal.
My dear friends, THIS is life with God, our Redeemer, Hero, Savior, Father and the greatest Lover of our soul! When you fall for God and surrender your heart completely to Him—you don’t EVER get over it. You don’t WANT to!!! And when HIS desires become OUR desires—He denies us nothing!
“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?”
Romans 8:31-32
When we are adopted into God’s family, we live in the wonder, safety, wisdom, love and power of His presence. We don’t want to live in the ghetto of sin. Our new life “in Christ” is much better than our old life as a beggar starving on stinky scraps of sin. God cares for His children—so well.
God’s Kingdom and His wondrous presence—are the glorious gifts of His love for us. Enjoy them today!
