When we are born again and become a member of God’s family, we are “in Christ.” (2 Corinthians 5:17) Thus, when we fail, God doesn’t kick us out of the house. We belong to Him.
Jesus paid a huge price for us and is fully committed to the relationship.
When one of my children was a teenager [trying not to dime out anyone so I’ll use gender neutral references 🤣] this child decided to charge several thousand dollars to my credit card—without my permission. I was so angry at that little sneaky thief! But—that kid was MY little thief. As angry as I was, I wasn’t going to disown or throw my child in the street! Actually, my heart hurt so much at the thought of my child bearing the full brunt of the debt [which they definitely could not pay] that I paid the cost myself. Ultimately, my child understood the measure of grace being given. The grace eventually made our relationship stronger. And—I don’t think my child believed—even for a minute—that I would reject them! This child knew the value of the relationship.
Ah, that we, too would come to fully understand the immense value of our relationship with the powerful Redeemer and LOVER of our soul!
God’s grace towards us is so much greater than we comprehend. He paid a debt we could not pay. The closer we draw to Him, the more we see the evidence of His grace towards us. Our feelings must never cloud our understanding of God’s love. When we become confused, there is a fact we can ALWAYS always be reminded of:
God promises that our salvation is absolutely secure!
Our salvation is secure—not because it depends upon us—but because it depends upon God, Who cannot lie. The Book of Jude states:
“Now unto HIM that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.”
Jude 1:24-25
It is GOD who keeps us spiritually faultless and is able to qualify us to be presented to our HOLY Father. Our salvation is secure because of God. Indeed, Jesus Christ proclaimed,
“I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are one.”
John 10:27b-30
Another very powerful argument for eternal security is made by the Apostle Paul in Romans:
“For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be ABLE to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 8:38-39
Our eternal security is based upon God’s promises to HIS children. Like my children’s familial relationship was irrevocably established the day they were each born; our familial relationship in Christ was established and sealed by the Holy Spirit the day we were born again.
The deeper we go into our relationship with God, the more we experience His irrevocable love; NOTHING can separate us!
