Dress For REAL Success In The Armor Of God, Part 8: Put It On And PRAY!

Paul finishes his instructions for putting on the whole armor of God, by reminding us of the most critical component between success and failure-to pray:

“Therefore take up the WHOLE armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand…PRAYING ALWAYS with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being WATCHFUL to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.” ‭‭ ‬‬

Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭10‬-‭18

My friend, the armor will matter very little if we’re not listening diligently for the direction of our Commander! No decent military unit engages in a mission before the chain of command issues the order and neither either should we. To pray to our Commander for clarity, allows us to know what to do next.

But that doesn’t mean we are to stand still or hide. No—we have a whole Book of His commands and Jesus said for us to “Go” to ALL the world and make disciples. (Matthew 28:19-20) The warfare constantly rages all around us. The enemy is working overtime to terrorize the human race into the dark despair of hell.

We are the ones who stand between humanity and their inevitably horrible eternal doom.

We NEED to pray because without God’s direction we don’t hold enough intel to defeat our enemies. Satan both roars like a lion and creeps like a sneaky snake. He masquerades as light and goodness and we can be easily fooled. But my friend, God KNOWS all of his tricks. Jesus already crushed his head. The writhing remains of his kingdom are desperate to survive. He won’t. We KNOW this.

We must LIVE like we DO by—dressing for success in the armor of God!

Satan is fighting like he believes he has won and as a result, countless humans are being led astray by his lies. In fact, one of his most powerful tools is all of the false religions which tout good works as the way to be reconciled to God. He is in the house.

We need God’s intel to know the difference between the enemy and the victims.

God is our great overwatch. Our lines of communication with Him must be wide open and turned up to full volume.

Prayer brings us into communion and fellowship with God so we know HOW to fight; WHERE to go; WHO is ready to hear the Gospel; WHAT to say; and WHEN to move.

One of my favorite daily prayers is taken from Psalms 119:11 and 119:105:

“Oh Lord, hide Your Word in my heart, that I might not sin against You; make Your Word a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

If you feel like you aren’t connecting with God in your prayers, we have written a short series on prayer. This series has revolutionized my ability to pray and put me in touch with God in powerful ways that I NEVER thought possible! In fact, when I feel my prayer life diminishing, I often go back and review this series. Prayer should NOT be “now I lay me down to sleep…zzzzz.” Rather, it SHOULD be so powerful that it becomes as necessary to us as breathing. The God we are praying to is omniscient and omnipotent. No one can defeat HIM!

Can you imagine a better commander on the battlefield?

Yes, my friend, we are engaged in the greatest warfare in human history and are fighting for the ONLY Almighty God. So strong is His desire to be reconciled to humanity that—He paid the ultimate price. We MUST wake up every morning and intentionally dress for real success! We ARE a part of the greatest mission on earth; fighting to bring God’s kingdom into the souls of all humanity!

Are YOU ready to dress for REAL success today?

“Be STRONG in the LORD, and in the POWER of HIS might.” ‭‭‬ ‬‬

Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭10

Putting on the whole armor of God isn’t complicated. After we are born again, we must make God the center of our life, communicate regularly with Him via prayer, and allow Him to dress us. HOW do we make God the center of our life? Jesus said that all of the commandments are summed up by FIRST loving “the LORD your God with ALL your heart, with ALL your soul, and with ALL your mind.” ‬(Matthew‬ ‭22‬:‭37)

When Jesus is the LORD of our life, HE will dress us for success!

Basic Bible Concepts: Part 9 Spiritual Growth

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you, when they revile and persecute you and say, all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake, rejoice and be exceeding. Glad for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” ~Matthew 5:10-12
