Lately God has been teaching me to live in the confidence of who HE made me to be. HIS confidence is such a blessing amidst a world where there is constant pressure to be something we are NOT! I’m SO grateful for the reminders. I don’t want to live in the frustration of trying to be someone I’m not—do you???
In a culture where our enemies tell us we’re never enough…it’s critical to learn how to live outside this crushing mentality.
I’ll never forget the first time I heard the song “Try” by Colbie Caillat and I thought, “My gosh, she’s talking about me!” Let me do something to fix myself now…
“Put your make up on;
Get your nails done;
Curl your hair;
Run the extra mile;
Keep it slim;
So they like you, do they like you?
Get your sexy on;
Don’t be shy, girl;
Take it off;
This is what you want, to belong;
So they like you, do you like you?”
I tend to get so wrapped up in whether “they” LIKE me, that I forget that God LOVES me! Thus, I “try” to be everything and anything I was never intended to be.
When we live this way we become enslaved to an enemy we often can’t even see.
And WHY do we do this??? Well, to be “loved” and adored, of course! But in living this way, we’re missing the opportunity to know God and experience the greatest love in heaven or earth. And—most of the time we don’t even like who we’ve become after we’ve become what we think “they” want! Furthermore, what “they” think we should be is constantly changing. But my friend, God never changes! His truth about who we are never changes either!
God created us for a glorious purpose and to live as HIS masterpiece!
As we learn to trust God, we become confident in Him and learn to love who He made us. We no longer draw our confidence from the fickle crowd; but rather, from our loving, Almighty Father. When God is our source of confidence, then our greatest fear is not being able to sense the love, peace, joy, wisdom, and strength of His presence. Our strongest sense of confidence comes from God. The Bible says:
“In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence, And His children will have a place of refuge.”
Proverbs 14:26
To “fear” the Lord, is to have an awe, respect, and passionate love for Him. Knowing God, reveals the uniqueness and wonder of who He created us to be and we become supremely confident in our identity as His child. Confidence from God peacefully cradles us by night and empowers us by day. We’re not wadded up trying to live like someone we were never created to be.
After we are born again, and we continuously work to conform our mind and discipline ourselves to live in God’s righteous ways—HE makes us confident beyond our wildest expectations. God doesn’t fear anyone. He doesn’t conform to peer pressure because no one is His peer. When we’re walking hand in hand with Him—we don’t either. We develop the mind of Christ and learn to live in the freedom of His spiritual perspective instead of being enslaved with the cruel pressure from a culture which cares nothing for us except—what it can extract from us. We live fearlessly with great purpose. And we experience spiritual prosperity!
Our confidence in GOD makes us confident in who HE made us—a masterpiece for HIS glory!
“I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, being CONFIDENT of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;”
Philippians 1:3-6
“The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?”
Psalms 27:1

We must understand the words of Paul . He said God has not given us the spirit of fear but of love and a sound mind .
True, true!
