Are You Blaming God For Your Trouble?

Share

woman sitting in corner wondering if God is punishing her

I was listening to a lady talk about the many tragedies in her life and she said,  “I wonder if there is something bad that I’ve done for which God is punishing me?”

This wasn’t the first time I’d heard someone make that comment. In fact, I sometimes think this way too! It must make God incredibly sad to hear His children talk about Him this way. I would be physically sick if my children thought that way about me. To think that someone I love so much would doubt my character would be heart-breaking—wouldn’t it?

What a wrong image of God we have often formed!

But that should not surprise us considering that is EXACTLY the enemy’s plan—right? Since the day that the serpent said to Eve in the Garden of Eden:

“You will not surely die [if you disobey God and eat the fruit]. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

Genesis‬ ‭3:4-5

Every day since that fateful day in the Garden, satan has been promising us good things from sin. But worse than that, he has been telling us other big fat lies like: God is WITHHOLDING good from us; God’s plans for us are miserable; God is not good; God doesn’t understand our situation; eternal life with God will be boring; life on earth with God is not exciting…etc.

My friends, live like God is GOOD and you will be victorious over your worst enemies!

God is so good that, from the foundation of the world, He had a plan to rescue us. His only Son volunteered to suffer and die a horrible death to save us!

“All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Revelation‬ ‭13:8

It is only when we are completely blinded by the enemy that we believe God is plotting evil against us! The truth is that God gave mankind the freedom to choose evil and—we did. That choice ripped deeply into the fabric of God’s good and perfect world. With freedom comes the responsibility for the choices we make; and, even greater, the responsibility for the repercussions upon the entire human race. Our sin hurts everyone; in fact, it even pollutes the physical Creation.

“The creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now.”

Romans‬ ‭8:21-22

But when we belong to God—we have amazing hope! When we choose to place our life in HIS hands, that is, to make Him LORD over our heart and over all our choices, we invite Him to be the great Guardian of our life. When trouble comes, please don’t blame your greatest Friend and shut Him out—rather take full advantage of His unimaginably good companionship, comfort, love, wisdom, and power. He will walk through the pain with you. He’s been there. He knows. He cares.

“This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”

1 John 4:10

Basic Bible Concepts: Part 9 Spiritual Growth

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you, when they revile and persecute you and say, all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake, rejoice and be exceeding. Glad for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” ~Matthew 5:10-12
