“Then those who feared the Lord spoke to one another, And the Lord listened and heard them; So a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the Lord and who meditate on His name. “They shall be Mine,” says the Lord of hosts, “On the day that I make them My jewels. And I will spare them as a man spares his own son who serves him.” Then you shall again discern between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve Him.” Malachi 3:16-18
This Word of God was written during a spiritually low time for Israel when the religious leadership was weakened by corruption and mediocrity. But there was still a remnant of believers who reverenced and loved God and—they encouraged one another. God gave them two powerful promises.
Even though it looks like His enemies are winning—He sees their faithfulness and—it’s so important that He records it in a book of remembrance.
Irrespective of how we feel, God’s children are always His precious jewels.
My friend, even if your family and closest friends turn away from you and the Lord, that does not change your position with God. Once you are born again—you always have family. Even when you see the wicked rewarded and the righteous suffer, it does not mean God has forgotten all your good. In fact, it’s so important to God that He writes it all down. I cannot fathom the Creator and Sustainer of the universe thinking that anything my puny self does is important enough to record, can you? Ah, His love and compassion are beyond our human comprehension.
God’s presence in our life gives our life significance beyond our own existence.
Even in the midst of affliction—when you are assaulted by discouragement and don’t feel your value—remember, those feelings NEVER change your value with God. God’s promises are greater than our feelings. When we are born again, we are given an unbreakable bond with Christ. Jesus is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords and His jewels are priceless, durable, rare, and part of His royal collection. God’s jewels are found all over the world in different sizes and shapes, and in different stages of refinement. God treasures and protects them.
When we make Jesus our Lord and Savior—we are one of His jewels.
Because He is God, our feelings NEVER change His promises. The best way to maintain a strong sense of our priceless value is to know God for Who He IS. Why? Because the more we know God for who He truly is, the more thankful we become.
Thankfulness is a key to seizing the opportunities God gives us through affliction.
The more we attribute our own value with God’s valuation of our life—the less we feel worthless. God thought we were worth the life of His Son. Do you know anyone who values you like He does?
