Why We Live Like Our Problems Are Too Hard For God

Before reading Genesis this morning, I was praying and asking God to show me how to accomplish His will in several areas in my life. For example, I’m certain He has laid on my heart for a while now to start a podcast and write at least  two more books—but to add something else to my plate right now—with a full time law practice—just seems impossible. Then, while reading, this verse jumped off the page at me:

“Is anything too hard for the Lord?”

‭‭Genesis‬ ‭18‬:‭14‬(a)

I laughed—not because I don’t think all these projects can happen; rather because I had forgotten about how much God has already done through my life. It would be kind of like a king having a nightmare that he was starving to death and then awaking and realizing that what he had awakened to was the same bountiful breakfast he ate every morning. God’s blessings are faithful. I need to begin each morning remembering…

God has already done greater things through me than I could have ever imagined!

So, why would I start doubting Him now? Like being in the fog of a bad dream, I often begin to believe the lies of my enemies. They want me to doubt God. We focus on the mountain instead of the God who created it. Even Abraham, who had experienced the miracles of God—doubted. So did Sarah. When Abraham and Sarah were old—way past child-bearing years—God said Sarah would have a son. Sarah laughed at the ridiculous notion. But, God not only told them she was going to have a son; He even told Abraham the name of his son!

[God said] “Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his descendants after him.”‭‭

Genesis‬ ‭17‬:‭19‬

God has not changed since the time of Abraham. The amazing future He has planned for you is yours for the believing; for the living; and for the blessing. When you learn to entrust every part of your life to God, He will direct you out of the fog of your own mind and dispel the doubting lies of the enemy. He will bring you into the brightness of His way of thinking. Proverbs gives us some simple instructions:

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and depart from evil.

Proverbs‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬-‭7‬ ‭‬‬

‭‭God is worthy of your greatest trust. No one else (not even you) is worthy of your greatest trust. How do you learn to give Him your trust? It’s much like you build trust in anyone. Seek Him. Get to know Him. Get in the habit of trusting Him. I promise you, God will direct your path when you give Him 100% of your time, heart and resources.

When we live in God’s presence, we live like nothing is too hard for Him.
