We are born on a planet where trouble abounds, but that does not mean we have to live defeated by it. The ROOT of ALL our trouble is mankind’s choice to reject God. WE CHOSE—THE ENEMY INSTEAD! Thus, we are, as Job says, “born to trouble.”
“For affliction does not come from the dust, nor does trouble spring from the ground; yet man is born to trouble, as the sparks fly upward.”
Job 5:6-7
We are ALL sinners (Romans 3:23); thus, we are ALL complicit in causing our own trouble! Even Job was what we would call a “good man,” but he understood that God was NOT the cause of his trouble. Thus, after losing everything he had, as well as ALL of his children, he was STILL steadfast in seeking God:
“But as for me, I would seek God, and to God I would commit my cause—Who does great things, and unsearchable, marvelous things without number. He gives rain on the earth, and sends waters on the fields. He sets on high those who are lowly, and those who mourn are lifted to safety. He frustrates the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot carry out their plans.”
Job 5:8-12
Job could have blamed God; but he understood that God wasn’t the problem—it was humanity that had brought the destructive powers of sin to this planet. He also understood that, despite mankind’s rejection of God, He mercifully and graciously provides help for our trouble.
“But He saves the needy from the sword, From the mouth of the mighty, And from their hand. So the poor have HOPE, and injustice shuts her mouth.”
Job 5:15-16
When we change our perspective to understand that WE (not God) are the root of all our trouble; and GOD DESIRES US—then we learn to quit running from Him. We learn to run TOWARD our Almighty Father who does “great things, and unsearchable, marvelous things without number.” God has a plan to make “injustice shut her mouth.” When we become God’s children we GET to be PART of that plan.
God has the answer to every one of your problems today—seek HIM and you will FIND everything you need and more than you imagine.
When we commit our entire heart and soul to God, we stop working AGAINST Him, and He works out our trouble FOR good.
