“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” Isaiah 26:3
We give real power to who or what we believe. Who are we giving this power to? Who are we entrusting our peace to? Our level of peace is directly tied to who—or what—we believe. When our minds are fixed on God, His truth steadies us. But when our hearts are captured by headlines and half-truths, our peace quickly crumbles.
Today’s news cycle often fuels anxiety and anger.
Reports are rushed out before facts are verified, speculation is treated like certainty, and rumors spread faster than truth. From all directions, we have bad news—both real and speculative—bombarding our minds. It’s no wonder so many of us feel anxious and angry!
But God’s Word has a much different effect. When we are born again, we receive the mind of Christ. He is the Prince of Peace. He does not speculate or revise. His truth is always the same, and it stands forever.
“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.” Isaiah 40:8
“Forever, O LORD, Your word is settled in heaven.” Psalm 119:89
“God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do?” Numbers 23:19
Isn’t it comforting to know that God’s truths never change?
Because misinformation surrounds us, Scripture calls us to be vigilant and renew our minds daily.
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Romans 12:2
Just as false headlines stir strong emotions before the facts emerge, so lies from the enemy can sway us if we are not anchored in God’s Word. Only by returning daily to Scripture can our thoughts be cleansed and reset by the Spirit of truth.
We must also be careful not to fill our minds with “truth” as presented by false Bible teachers.
We discern who is teaching truth by immersing ourselves in God’s Word. Bankers don’t learn counterfeits by studying fakes—they know the real bills so well that anything false immediately reveals itself as wrong. In the same way, the more we know the Bible, the quicker we recognize falsehood.
“Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105
We also know the truth by the fruit. Jesus gave us another test: “Beware of false prophets… You will know them by their fruits.” Matthew 7:15–16
Just as false news eventually unravels, false teachers are exposed by the fruit of their lives. Scripture tells us to follow leaders whose conduct and faith point us to Christ—not away from Him. Hebrews 13:7
Unlike human reports, God’s truth never changes: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8) So when competing voices clamor for your attention, don’t let your peace be hijacked by speculation. Anchor yourself in Scripture. Renew your mind daily. Let God’s truth—not the culture’s noise—shape your mind.
“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians 4:8-9

Prayer
Father, thank You that Your Word is settled forever in heaven. In a world of shifting stories and constant misinformation, help me to renew my mind daily in Your truth. Protect me from deception. Give me discernment to recognize lies quickly, and courage to live by Your Word with confidence. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
